Yang Fire

Bǐng · the visible sun · The Sovereign

The brightness everyone feels in the room.

丙 (Yang Fire) is the third Heavenly Stem. Classical commentary describes it as 太阳之火 — the sun itself, visible from any horizon. Where Yin Fire (丁) is the candle, the lamp, the inner light, Yang Fire is the public flame that warms others by existing.

If your Day Master is 丙, the soul gesture is generous radiance. People feel oriented around you; you don't have to chase. The shadow is performance: needing the light to be confirmed by an audience, scorching what came to be near you because you didn't notice you'd burned hot.

Classical 滴天髓 says of 丙: 丙火猛烈,欺霜侮雪 — 'Yang Fire is fierce; it scorns frost and bullies snow.' This is not flattery. It is warning: the fire that warms the sleeping village can also burn the village down.

In Cosmica's three-tradition reading, Yang Fire Day Masters often have Leo Sun or prominent Sun, and resonate with hexagrams of abundance, light, and visible advancement: 14 (大有 Possession in Great Measure), 30 (离 The Clinging Fire), 35 (晋 Progress), 55 (丰 Abundance).
